ADVANCED TRAINING INSTITUTE LUDHIANA Advanced Training Institute (ATI) formerly known as Central Training Institute (CTI) Ludhiana was established in 1963 by Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET) under the Ministry of Labour, Government of India. The institute spread over 32 acres of land and. is situated on the Gill Road at a distance of approximately 5 kms from Railways station and 4 kms from Bus stand Ludhiana . The institute conducts regular training courses under the CTS in MTIs attatched to it , short term courses for industrial workers to upgrade their skill under the Advanced Vocational Training Scheme (AVTS) and one year regular Training Courses for instructors of ITIs/ITCs and Training Centers of Industries . The institute is well equipped with basic amenities required for healthy training environment. It comprises of well equipped Workshops, Library, Audio-Visual room, hostel for trainees, dispensary with a resident Medical Officer and club for indoor /outdoor games. Residential Complex for staff is also constructed inside the institute campus. Following training programmes are offered at this institute :- Courses under Craft Instructor Training Scheme This Institute conducts one year regular training courses for vocational instructor of ITIs / ITC to provide comprehensive training in Skill development and Principle of Teaching . It also conduct short duration special refresher courses to update and upgrade the knowledge and skill of the instructor and to keep them abreast of technological development taking place in the industry . Facilities to conduct one year instructor training programme are presentaly available in the trades of - Electrician , Fitter , Machinist ,Turner , Welder, Mechanic( Farm Machinery), Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) Entry level requirements i) passed matriculation or equivalent examination. ii) Diploma in Engineering recognized by the Government and relevant to the trade or National Apprenticeship Certificate in respective trade or National Trade Certificate in respective trade with one year experience either in a reputed industry or in a training institute . iii) Between 18 to 40 years of age. Time of admission - August every year. Mode of admission- The course commences from 1st August every year and applications for admission are invited through the advertisement in Employment News .. Eligibility for Admission : Preference is given to the deputed Instructor trainees from Government ITI s /ITCs sponsored by the State Government. The Private candidates who are matriculate and have passed the recognised Diploma course in Engineering / National Apprenticeship Certificate / National Trade Certificate in the respective trade with one year experience may be considered for admission subject to the availability of seats in the respective trades. Model Training Institutes attached to ATI,Ludhiana , presently conduct training programme in the trades of Electrician, Fitter, Machinist, Turner, Welder( Gas & Electric), Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA). The trainees of these courses after completition of the prescribed training appear in the All India Trade Test held under the aegis of NCVT along with trainees of ITIs/ ITCs held in July every year .The successful trainees are awarded National Trade Certificate . Advanced Vocational Training Scheme (AVTS) (Short term training courses for industrial workers) The institute offers short-term modular courses of 2 to 6 weeks duration in Advanced Skill areas in order to update the skills of serving industrial workers, technicians and first line supervisors to become specialised in their field of work. At present, the institute offers courses in the following areas. Tool and Die Making and Tool Room Operator, Metrology & Engineering Inspection, Advanced Electronic Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Machine Tool Maintenance, Advanced Welding, Indian Standard & Reading of Engineering Drawing, Refrigeration & Air conditioning, Advanced Heat Engines, Advanced Farm Machinery. Equipment Maintenance System (EMS) Mechanic Maintenance. Modern Teaching Techniques QUALIFICATION : NAC/NTC in relevant trade with experience in the same field of work or diploma in appropriate branch of Engineering. Qualification is relax able for deputed candidates. Application and Registration Candidates willing to join courses under AVTS programme may apply in the prescribed form and deposit registration fee before starting of the course . Cost of Application form Rs.5/- Hostel facilities- Modest Hostel accommodation is available at the institute. Admission eligibility :- 1) Degree/Diploma/National Apprenticeship Certificate/National Trade Certificate with 2 to 3 years experience in the relevant trade . Qualification can be relaxed in case of candidates sponsored by industry/organisation.
